Product feature

THE SCIENCE

Biomechanically Designed for Natural Pull Motion

Traditional sock application requires 90+ degrees of hip flexion and significant spinal mobility. Our deluxe sock aid reduces joint strain to zero by extending your reach and repositioning the application plane to standing height.

Ergonomic foam handles are positioned at the optimal angle for natural pulling motion, distributing force evenly across your grip. The flexible cradle adapts to sock thickness while maintaining tension for smooth, snag-free entry every time.

How It Works

1

Load Sock onto Cradle

Stretch sock opening over the flexible cradle until heel is positioned at the base.

2

Insert Foot and Position

Slide your foot into the sock-covered cradle until toes reach the end comfortably.

3

Pull Handles Upward

Grip foam handles and pull upward smoothly until sock releases and settles on foot.

Put your socks on by yourself

Of many designs for donning socks with crippled hands and inability to bend over to reach socks and pull them up with a weak grip—this product is the best!! Would have been a 5 star review except plastic shell is so thin, with repeated contractions from threading sock on to it, it cracks down the middle 4th one in 2 years And first thing I do upon receipt is cut off foam handles; if I could grasp them, I could grasp my sock, right?

Classic design works to put on socks without bending over

RMS Deluxe Sock Aid - Socks Helper with Foam Handles for Regular Socks | Help put on socks ... I'm recovering from my second total hip joint replacement surgery. The first (about 15 years ago) was from the back ('dorso-lateral') approach and had VERY strict rules about not bending the hips more than 90 degrees. This one used the modern front (anterior) approach and has much less stringent rules about front bending, but still.. I couldn't find the sock aid from the past so I ordered this one because it looked like the one I had. By the way, the sock-aid the hospital therapist used looked identical to this model. Using this tool is not intuitive (to me at least) but it works well once you know how to use it. 1) draw the sock over the tool; 2) place on floor; 3) slip your foot into it; 4) pull it back until the tool slips out and the sock is over your foot; 5) use your gripper-tool to pull up the edges of the sock. Ha, ha. Sounds simple but it's better if you've seen how it's done (therapist or--these days-- you tube). Now for some tricks I've found from making all the mistakes :) 1) When drawing the sock over the tool, double-check to make sure the heel part goes on the bottom side of the scoop (the side with the rubber pad); otherwise you get stuck half way feeling like a doofus 2) To start, pull the sock all the way onto the tool, so the toe part of the sock is stretched tight against the end of the tool 3) Draw the top part of the sock as far as it will go on the tool, WITHOUT going over the nubbins of the rope; if you do, it may (does) get stuck and won't release. See picture. 4) After you get your foot in so your toe is all the way in, pull back with the tool in line with the foot until your toe meets the toe of the sock (end of the tool), then switch to pulling at an angle so the tool pulls the remainder of the sock over the heel and ankle. The rubber pad on the bottom helps to grip the sock, but this technique (almost) always works. This procedure gets you 90-100% there most of the time, especially for short socks. For calf-length socks, there's no way around having to pull it the rest of the way with your gripper. Don't even think about using this for compression socks; they don't even go on easy with both hands and a helper :) For the rating, I give it 5 stars because it does what it's supposed to, but... With the width of the entry end of tool and the width of the rope, my little toe tends to catch on the inside of the tool (see picture). I can snake it through and maybe it's just fat feet. I'm not sure why the ropes are so long or why they need the big foam handles. I'm 6'2' and always end up pulling on the middle of the ropes (never use the handles); the rope is thick and soft enough to be easy to grip. Overall, in my opinion, it's a good product that does what it needs to

A MUST HAVE FOR A IN-FLEXIBLE BACK

If you have a bad back or have had back or spine surgery and I have had a bad back most of my life and also had (3) surgeries back and spine you will absolutely need this to put socks on if you don't have someone to do it for you. It's well made more so than the one you receive from the hospital (theirs is flimsy). This one is very durable, thick so there is not much flexibility in the material while trying to put socks on. The size is generic fits most feet I am almost positive of that and the grip is just right.

Sock aid performs as advertised

This product works well. My old sock aid cracked and rendered itself useless. This new one arrived in short order and works well.

Great helper!

I had to come back to this item to say how clever it is for putting on socks. A simple design that does the job everytime. Very satisfied customer!

Simple

Just got today, simple it be, works like advertised. Happy with my purchase, would buy again. O and I used with support socks, long ones, it works great to get you started, will not pull all the way up, but does the job getting it started. For reg socks works great too! It's sturdy, and fits my wide feet fine.

Strong, durable and practical product.

This product is sturdier than other sock dressing tools I've purchased. It feels stronger as it stays stretched out after placing my sock before sliding in my foot. As a person who cannot bend down properly, this item is useful on daily basis.

Essential when you can't put on socks or shoes alone

If you can't bend over after surgery or for any other reason, this helper is the solution. Put on socks or shoes. Highly recommended.

Sock Aide…👍

Had SI Fusion and was trying to cover all the bases before. This product works very well but NOT for compression socks.

Too large for my socks

its huge. I'm a female with size 10 feet and it is too wide for basically all of my socks. My socks will not fit over the plastic form. it will completely stretch them out. I just ordered the fabric/cardboard type that is flexible which I have used in the past after back surgeries and it worked well. Till then I have sacrificed one pair of socks that I fight with to get on the form. Maybe if you are a male with large feet it will work well for you. I gave it four stars because it is well made, does the job correctly, just not a fit for me

Sock puller-on-er

This is a great product for its purpose. I have now bought at least 2-3 over the years. “Why 2-3,” you may ask. The others have cracked in half while using them. That is the problem this plastic has, I guess.

It actually works as intended

So simple to use and it actually works. I bought a new hip for myself this summer and had to have my wife put my socks on. I returned to work recently and got this - not expecting it to actually work. But it truly does. I used it to don thick cushioned socks this morning, and also used it for ankle socks and even the 'invisible' socks as well as a standard pair of dress socks. I appreciate it when a product performs as advertised.

Works like magic!

I got frustrated trying to put my socks on after knee replacement surgery. I didn't see how it could work, but was willing to try it since it didn't cost much. What a life saver! It works like magic -- makes getting my socks on a breeze. I can see myself continuing to use it long after I've recovered from surgery; it's way easier than struggling to get past my gut to get my socks on in the morning.

durability questions, developing cracks with men’s size 9-12 socks!

Works pretty well, but the plastic starts cracking. Needs a stronger material, maybe metal? It’s developed cracks where the heel hits, also starting to crack at the top. I use men’s 9-12 size socks and this is TIGHT with many of my socks. Have tried a little lubrication and it’s helped, but eventually the fabric will absorb it in short time. Hoping someone makes a strong metal version of this, ideally a strong aluminum so it’ll travel well. Disappointed in the durability of this, first crack appeared in about a month so no chance to return it…. But for what in exchange?

Game Changer!

This is such a great gadget when you can’t bend to put socks on. After a back injury i tried putting socks on with a grabber and it was endlessly frustrating. This gadget does it easily and effortlessly and works even for “pets”/short socks. Great find!

Simple, life-changing independence tool for daily comfort

Simple, life-changing independence tool for daily comfort The RMS Deluxe Sock Aid is one of those humble gadgets that quietly changes your life if bending down has become a challenge. It’s remarkably easy to use—just slide your sock over the flexible plastic shell, drop it to the floor, slip your foot in, and pull the soft foam handles. The sock slides on smoothly, and for many users recovering from hip or knee surgery—or simply dealing with arthritis or back pain—it restores a sense of independence that’s hard to put a price on. The contoured shell has just enough flex to handle most regular socks (athletic, ankle, or dress), and the foam-lined grips make pulling comfortable even for weak or arthritic hands. The adjustable ropes are a thoughtful touch, letting taller or shorter users customize the reach. The slip-resistant pad inside keeps the sock from slipping off mid-pull, which helps reduce frustration. However, it’s not perfect. The plastic shell can crack with time, especially if used daily or with thick socks. It’s also too narrow for very wide feet or heavy compression stockings (which it isn’t designed for). Still, most users find the trade-off more than worth it for the convenience and freedom it provides. Bottom line: a simple, affordable, and surprisingly durable aid that makes getting dressed painless again. Ideal for seniors, post-surgery recovery, or anyone with limited mobility who wants to start their day without a struggle.

Great for Post-Surgery!

Admittedly, I laughed when I first saw this product, but what a life-saver! My husband recently had a pretty major surgery that involved several incisions into his abdomen and this product has made it so easy for him to put his socks on without straining himself! I would recommend this product to anyone who is going to have surgery, maybe has a bad back, or is simply getting older and isn't as mobile as they used to be. It's wonderful to use, so simple, and constructed well too. Also, my husband has large feet (size 13) and calves, and it slides socks on nice and smooth.
