Amazon reminded me that I bought this in May 2020 and never wrote a review. Well, now that I’ve had this baby for 5 years, I can honestly say it works well. It does keep the ac/heat separated from room to room extremely well, it is opaque enough for privacy, and the magnets work well. The only problem I had in the last 5 years is the Velcro wears down around the loops to keep the curtain open, so we just keep it closed and it has become a game of who can scare who first. Also though, binder clips work well to hold the curtains open.

UPDATE (1 year later): it was that time of year where it was difficult to get out of the bed in the morning cause it was so cold due to my apartment’s great idea of sticking French doors in the master bedroom. I had taken this down as summer approached but left the Velcro strips up. So all I had to do was just stick this bad boy back onto the Velcro strips again… and voila, the temperature difference before and after this was put up was amazing. Noticeably warmer in the room now! I’m not super handy, but installing this was “how well can you apply a strip of tape to an area in a straight line?” It was that simple to put the velcro strip on the door frame. All that came next was just aligning the velcro with the velcro on the cover. I think I did this within 5 minutes and only needed scissors to cut the velcro strips. This helped us out so much! I don’t know why the builders designed the master bedroom to have French style glass doors, but with temps going super low at night, it was getting VERY cold in the bedroom. After installing this, I can happily say it is no longer freezing in the room in the morning. I was even able to sleep with my arms out of the blanket. Also, I really love the design of this cover and how pretty it is when the light goes through. It also provides privacy! 10/10 would recommend this.

With two dogs that like to go in and out of the house all the time, I wanted a magnetic door that was easy to install and would keep the weather out. This worked wonderfully. The magnets shut the door securely but dogs can easily open it. One of my dogs is a little 35 pound guy. It is very easy to install with adhesive velcro. The only thing is that it was a little longer than I needed, but you need to have 1 inch clearance at bottom to allow it to open and close, so I had to adhere the top to my transom window above the door. Hot weather caused the adhesive to melt on the glass and the door starting slipping down, but I just restuck it with gorilla tape and it's been fine in the hot weather. The one big thing that is in the description but I didn't think it would matter, is that this really keeps the weather out. If it is cold outside, this stops the cold from getting inside. Same thing when it is very hot outside. One thing I would emphasize is when you install it, be sure to make sure the middle top part is higher than the sides as recommended in the directions. If you do this, it will open and close very nicely. As mentioned in my title, the design looks a little like something from the 50's (which might be your style) but I was looking more for function than appearance.

Loved it at first. Needed heat to stay out but light to come in from my balcony doors. This worked and looked great. But the quality is lower than anticipated and started cracking and ripping at the year and half/2 year mark.

I wondered how thick it would actually be but it turns out that it is about the thickness of a shower curtain. Surprised though it works great! We have installed it in the doorway of our laundry room which gives the biggest draft and this thing blocks it out completely. Gives the room a modern look also with the design and all. Seems like it won’t last terribly long but we’ll worth the price and hey as good of a job it does I won’t mind replacing it after few months

I give it 5 stars because it does exactly what I wanted it. Really easy installtion, my wife actually put it up, and she's not handy so easy installation is a 5 - star. Magnetics are strong(so far) and it stays closed. The only thing I would do is rather than the 36x82, i would have gotten the 39x83. When you use the tie back it cuts off(like a tepee) the top of the door. So I'm 6'2 and I have to slightly duck when coming in & out.

This is good it helps the temperature to stay normal in your house so you can save Energy

For some reference, I live in metro Phoenix AZ and it is the first week of 100s. I bought this and outdoor curtains to try and keep the balcony, and therefore our living room and bedroom, as cool as possible this summer by blocking out the sun and heat. We have this screen attached to our French doors. The adhesive and tacks work great to keep it in the place and the magnets are quick to close it if your go through and is great for my dog running in and out. We live on the second floor and our balcony is east facing, the building behind us is three stories and blocks some sun as do the pine trees. When the door is closed and the screen is just to block heat from coming through the windows it works fine, especially with the curtains on the balcony. But if you leave the door open it doesn’t keep the heat out. We left it open last night when it was still 97 out, sun was down and no sun had touched our patio since before noon, and our apartment quickly warmed up once we opened the door and just left the screen in place. We have the thermostat set at 75, within 10 minutes the A/C kicked on and would not go off. The small outdoor thermometer we have by the door showed it as being 88 by the back door until we shut it. I’m sure it’s great for other areas but not meant for Phoenix. Does help some with keep the heat from coming through the French door windows.

I love this!!! It’s on the patio that sees a ton of activity at the door so the fact that it self closes and keeps the air conditioned air INSIDE the house. I would like to see the door itself, have a little more strength to it, but I’m very pleased with this product. I’ve ordered it twice.

I haven’t put it up yet. But it is exactly as described and pictures. It looks like it should work in blocking the cold drafts.

I bought this product to keep the cool air in my bedroom where I have a window AC unit. I put it up as instructed and within an hour the velcro had given way along the top and upper sides. I reinstalled it with a couple of tacks. My cats pulled it down the next time merely by pushing their way through the magnetic flap. Then the velcro came loose at the lower sides. The only reason it is staying up now is because I used about half the thumbtacks that came in the package. By the way, the thumbtacks are flimsy and bend if you tap them to help get them into the wall. I've had to leave a small opening at the bottom so my cats can go in and out without pushing against the plastic. Other than that, it is doing an excellent job keeping the cold air in the bedroom. I'm not sure why the velcro didn't stick everywhere for me but I know I have a bunch of holes in my wall and door frame that I will have to repair someday.

Installation was simple, and the magnetic closure works perfectly. It helps keep the room comfortable while keeping insects outside.

This item is allowing us to keep our back door open so our dogs can run in to get cool, while helping us save money and energy. Easy to install and inexpensive. We have a new pool and a new puppy, plus a 10 yo dog. The dogs are usually outside with us while we’re enjoying the pool for hours, but it’s been very hot and summer has just begun. With a new puppy, we can’t leave them in for hours by themselves. We’ve been propping our door open to give them a break from the sun and heat, but our AC has been running full stop, wasting energy and money. I found this item and we’ve had it up for a day. We clipped the bottom open to help the dogs learn to navigate it. Our puppy bursts through without hesitation, but our senior dog is a little unsure. Once he gets more comfortable well let it close all the way. A couple of minutes with treat training got them through initially. In one day we could already tell the AC was no longer running all day. It also keeps flies and moths out. The only regret is I wish I had bought a clear one so we could see out, but that’s on me.

Not a bad false door, keeps the heat out or in whichever you need depending on seasons. The tape sticks very well, but also comes with tacks. I recommend using the tacks with the sticky tape holds better. Magnet holds well and keeps bugs out, stops airflow. Also doesn't look bad and color is good.

This door curtain is exactly what we needed to keep the drafts coming in from the doorway between our kitchen and living area. We zone heat to save money on heating costs, meaning we only heat the area we are using at the time. In order to keep heat in our living room, we purchased this curtain. It allows us to easily go from the living room to the kitchen without losing heat from the main occupied room. The curtain is attractive, sets up very easily via the sticky velcro tape, and it closes perfectly when you exit and enter the room. Our frame was too hard to use the provided push-pins for security, so we staple-gunned the door curtain to the frame, which worked out much better than just the adhesive alone. The material is a pvc/plastic and is very thick and durable. The magnets are aligned correctly to open and close when you walk through- no having to pull it closed after you. My cats and dogs can go to their food/water in the kitchen and back again with no problems pushing the curtain open and it closes right behind them. The drafts are gone and we have a warm and toasty living area. We even like the design on the curtain- you can't see through it, but it lets some light through so you can see if someone is on the other side. We had originally just tacked up a thermal fabric curtain to achieve a similar result, but would end up running into people coming/going through and the thermal curtain was no where near as effective at keeping out drafts. I really like this as it does what it is supposed to do, closes easily and looks nice.

I use this as my greenhouse door and it is excellent for Alaska. Easy to walk through and close again. Then I take it off in the winter when not using the greenhouse to save for next summer. Would buy again for any area needing a temporary closure. Perfect to close off cold rooms too.
