Love it but I made a few modifications

It arrived quickly and the box wasn't particularly heavy. I was able to set it up in less than an hour. It may have been less than 30 minutes. Me and my wife used it several times before we decided to make a few simple modifications that made the sauna way better . First modification: The sauna heats up quickly but it losses heat through the zipper seams and although the walls are insulated it could be more insulated. Although the max temp is 140 I couldn't get it above the 120's while sitting in it. I covered the inside walls, behind the heating pads with an additional layer of reflective bubble insulation. I covered all walls and the ceiling. The insulation is pretty inexpensive. I also covered all the seams(except the door) with adhesive insulation. That keeps all the heat in. I couldn't cover the door zipper because you need to be able to get in and out BUT i have a curtain of the bubble insulation hanging inside that covers those leaky parts. Modification 2: The folding seat that comes with the sauna is comfortable but the frame is metal and gets how. If you touch it it hurts. I purchased on Amazon a bamboo folding sauna chair. Its comfortable and no burns. I also purchased a bamboo floor mat. The foot heating pad get really hot and putting your feet directly on it is painful. I keep the pad under the seat and its another heating element for the sauna. The other addition is I bough an $8 hanging oven stove and hang it from the center ceiling. I wanted to make sure the temperature on the gauge was correct but it seems to be spot on. With the modifications its quite comfortable and you get get the temperature to 140 with you sitting in it.

Absolutely worth every penny awesome customer service

I've been looking at infrared saunas for a while and they're all around 1500 2000 some 2,500 and they're huge and. You got this big wood box then you got to put it someplace and then i started looking at these portable units I came across this portable one for 300 bucks it took me about 20 minutes to set it up which was fairly easy a little hard stretching the tent around the poles but that's a good thing once you get it together you'd see why that it's got a nice snug tight fit I read some of the reviews on it and people were complaining how it took a long time to heat up this or that it was a bunch of BS I set that thing at 104° and when I first turned it on it was at 68 and it only took about 15 minutes and it was already up to 104 I sat in that thing man did that feel good for probably about 12 minutes and I was just soaking wet sweat and then I hit the off button and slowly open the tent to introduce some outside air to slowly cool down sit there for a while because you are really tired and boy does it feel good all your muscles and aches and pains they just seem to just disappear then walk out of it get straight in the shower rinse off a little bit and it was the best night sleep I've had in a long time it gets rid of all the toxins and dirt and everything else that gets clogged in your pores and it's got a very good health benefit to it I found myself using this thing four to five times a week they say not to but I actually got addicted to the health benefits from it and the good night's sleep and I had it for 3 months and then one day I go to plug it in and nothing happened no light came on or anything it just quit working so I called up the customer service guys and wow within 3 days I had an answer I explained to him what happened and they sent me a whole brand new sauna the control board looks like it was faulty in there and kind of got fried in there and burnt up so I only needed a small part but they sent me a whole brand new sauna I haven't seen that kind of customer service in a long time if you have a place near a bathroom or anything like that whatever you're living conditions are like and you got room for it and you're thinking about a sauna don't even think about it anymore that's why I say never bathroom is I have it in my living room in the corner which I have plenty of room and I just grab it by the outside and it just slides so easily right across the carpet it just Glides and I plug it in at Outlet near the bathroom and rotate it so the door is facing the bathroom about 2 ft away so that way when I'm getting out of the thing I'm. Naked I can walk straight into the bathroom and shower up because you're soaking wet you just sweat it out a lot of toxins and what else gets clogged up in your pores and i can tell you if you're thinking of a sauna it will be the best 300 bucks that you spent. In a long time

Functions but off-gassing too long

In general, it seems to function as expected except for an off-gassing smell. I’ve had this unit for 3 years and have used it off and on and put it up and broken it down a couple times. My problem with the sauna is the off-gassing smell. I have not been able to get rid of it over 3 years. I find the smell a distraction and feel like it may trigger my migraines. I am sensitive to scents so ymmv. However, it seems unhealthy to breathe in the chemicals producing the smell (and possibly be absorbing them at an accelerated rate because of the heat). I previously tried turning on the sauna repeatedly for long periods to see if it might “burn off” the smell… nope. This last time I put up the sauna, I tried leaving it up for months to see if the smell dissipated… nope. Now I give up. It’s unusable for me, and I don’t want anyone in my family to be exposed to whatever it’s putting off either. I guess I’ll try a wood sauna next. Oh and use caution because the metal of the folding chair can get hot enough to burn.

Serene Life Infrared Portable Sauna

I’ve had mine for just under a year and use it several times a week for 20-40 minutes and love it. I keep it in my garage and it’s not well insulated out there. In the Summer it’s hot and winter it’s cold. I use dehumidifier, heater, and a fan to balance out the garage temps which improves the performance of the sauna. The environment it is in will determine how fast it heats up and how high the temp goes. I also made some modifications. I keep the sauna on top of a piece of cardboard and a wool military style blanket and added a second blanket on top. This improved insulation and helped speed up the heating of the sauna. I also added a heat lamp that is hanging from the ceiling which helps rapidly increase and maintain temp which I have maxed out at 157 degrees. Not bad for a home portable sauna. All in all I’ve spent only a fraction of what a full sized permanent sauna would cost. If you live in a warmer, dryer climate most or all year round this may not be the product for you. There are some negative reviews from native Texans that are used to pretty intense heat. I highly recommend it. Even the customer service was great. The heating element burnt out and blew a fuse. I reached out through the website and Caleb from customer service was in touch the next day. We identified the problem and a new tent and heating unit was sent and arrived quickly. Works great so far just like the original. Be certain to plug it directly into a wall outlet to avoid power issues. I’d suggest not plugging anything else in that outlet while in use. Also, don’t run other devices that use a lot of power while the sauna is in use (vacuum, hairdryer, treadmill, etc). I learned that lesson several times. Overall I highly recommend! Been great for detoxification, skin health, exercise recovery and stress reduction. Try it in early afternoon/evening and follow with cool/cold shower. You’ll sleep like a rock!

BEST SAUNA EVER

I bought this and was skeptical, but not anymore. BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! (not a sponsored post AT ALL, this is just how much I love it) I am 5'3' and definitely needed help putting the outer shell over the piping frame, but it only took about 30ish minutes to put together. Once youre set up-- the sauna takes about 15 or so minutes to heat up. Previous reviews note that the chair it comes with is terrible, I can confirm that. I don't use the chair, I sit on the ground and face the back wall so the heat is at my face versus my back. I wish there was a 4th heater pad for the door. Love the window, it makes it feel less claustrophobic. My temperature on the remote has only hit 125 but the temperature register is way up high towards the top of the sauna, so I imagine at the bottom, where I sit, is much hotter and closer to that 140 range it promises. I've owned it a week and I've used it everyday. Love it. Only down side is that this is not 'exquisitely' made. When we assembled it, the seam was ripped in the bottom lower corner (before we even tried to get the frame in it). A simple thread and needle fixed the problem so I never reported it. It was easier for me to fix the 6 inch seam rip than pack it back up and deal with a return to Amazon. Overall, LOVE LOVE LOVE. Such a great option for those that don't have the space/money for a permanent sauna option. Oh also, they market this as 'portable'-- sure, yea, you can take it apart and move it, but it would be a pain in the butt to disassemble and reassemble in my opinion.

Warning - functionality issues and customer support is terrible (thus far)

I used this product 8 times. After the first three or four uses it became apparent the temperature was never going to reach 140 degrees. It never got past 122 degrees. At this point I ventured down the road of customer support. I created a case online (because finding a phone number felt impossible) and NEVER HEARD BACK. Its been over a week and still nothing. Last night in the middle of using the sauna it completely shuts off. Since it's tripped my breaker once before I check the box and the electric is fine. I unplugged the sauna and let it cool down. Once it was cooled I tried plugging it back in to multiple outlets.....nothing. The sauna is completely shot. Not even the light will turn on. Today I finally found a phone number for customer support. - The phone answers and the recording / option menu gets played. It mentions at least 6 different companies, none of which are SereneLife. - I finally drill down the menu and get a human, obviously not anywhere on the North American continent. It was a very difficult conversation. - The agent tells me that this is the only phone number that can be called for SereneLife support but she (and any other agent you get) can only 'pass on the information to the right group because SereneLife support DOES NOT DO PHONE CALLS' - After the ticket was opened I asked for a reference number or anything else I could possibly use if I have to call back. The agent reacted like she's never been asked for such a thing. I basically had to explain to her that if a ticket is being opened in the system there MUST be some sort of reference to it. She found it after 5 or so minutes. - I never received a confirmation email of any kind. I'm convinced you just have to hope and pray someone over there decides to pick your ticket up one random morning and help. I'm losing hope. Its really unfortunate. This product, even at 120 degrees, was doing exactly what I purchased it for. If it works, its pretty darn good. This one is more my fault than the chairs but I'll throw it in. I'm 6'2' and 250 lbs. On my second use of the sauna, I got in and plopped. The chair did not appreciate that one bit and was escorted to my garbage can in pieces. If you're a normal sized human and not a plopper, the chair is fine. If you're a larger individual, I suggest you purchase an adjustable height stool or nothing over 24' high. Good luck!

I am in love!

I purchased this item to see if I would like a sauna at home, and I am so glad I did! This item took my husband and I about 10 to 15 minutes to put together, suer easy to do. I was so excited to use this so as soon as we were done setting it up, I plugged it in and it took about 7 to 10 minutes to get to the set temperature. The sauna is well made with sturdy seams and zipper. I especially like the foot pad that comes with it. I did get the infrared model but I don't really know how well or effective it is. I haven't really seen any improvement in the appearance of my skin, but my joints feel tremendously better! A complaint of some is that you can't actually turn the red light off, but I just immediately unplug the sauna as soon as I'm finished. So far, I've had my sauna for a few months and I use it at least 3 times a week and I've had no problems at all with this item. I love it so much, I am going to buy two more for family members. Hopefully, I'll catch it when it goes on sale again. Note: The only negative thing I would say about this product is I wish the window was positioned lower on the door. If you use the small chair that comes with it you can't see out. Someone suggested getting a Director's chair to sit up higher if you want to see out to watch t.v. or whatever. I highly recommend this product! This home sauna is so convenient and works as well as the one at our gym.

Experience with SereneLife Sauna

Due to recent developments, I have rewritten this review completely to describe the problems that I have experienced with the unit, the eventual support the manufacturer provided and to reflect a higher start rating. I have had the unit now for almost two months and my wife has done 22-30minute saunas in it so that is the extent of our experience with it. The unit heats up well, and unoccupied, it will reach 140-degrees as the specifications state. As soon as a person goes into it, the temperature drops substantially due to the body being a heat load, but in 30-minutes it recovers and gets the temperature back up to 130-degrees. If a person stayed in it long enough, I am confident the unit would climb back to 140-degrees but the person would be baked. So, the unit is heating up well. The unit is reasonably built for a portable unit, so no complain there. One problem that I have discovered is the handheld control unit that displays the internal temperature does not provide an accurate reading. It is off by approximately 15-degrees when the unit is fully heated up and less at lower settings. A work-around for this deficiency is to recognize the temperature display is only a relative indicator of the actual temperature, and to use a good thermometer to check the actual temperature. More on my efforts to get this problem resolved below. A second problem that I discovered has to do with the timer function. I set in a time for the unit to run, and the unit does not enact that setting and instead continues to use the previous setting. A work-around is to set the desired time, wait a moment, turn the unit off and then back on. The new time will then be enacted. An easy work around, and if described in the manual, it would be just fine but no mention of this quirk in the manual. In an effort to resolve these two problems, I contacted the manufacturer but response was so slow so I turned to Amazon for a replacement. Amazon sent me a replacement unit, and rather than disassemble my unit and assemble the replacement unit, I decided it would be simpler to swap out the controller, temperature sensor and handheld device. This is what I did and found the exact same problems existed afterwards. It seems these two quirky problems are just part of the characteristic of the unit. It is not a fault in the unit at all -- just the way it works. If the manufacturer described the unit’s operation better in the manual, most users could adapt to them. Unfortunately, the installation sheet is really lacking. One has to have some intuition to put it together. Many steps omitted and I got it put together through much deduction. The manufacturer did finally come on board and asked what could be done to satisfy me. My first choice was to get these two quirky problems resolved. The second choice was a momentary compensation for having a unit which I believe is not working correctly. The manufacture chose option two which we agreed on, and I am most satisfied with the arrangement. I have a unit that works reasonably well, albeit requires the use of work-arounds, but for a reasonable price too. My recommendation to anyone considering purchasing a SereneLife sauna is to understand the quirks the unit has before buying one. Personally, I think it is good value for the price and the quirks with the work-arounds are not that much of an annoyance.

Good product and service

PERFORMANCE -I have had this for almost a year, and I use it regularly, integrating thermal therapy into my routine for physical and emotional well-being. It works great and gives me the big sweats I’m looking for. It’s a treat to have in my home for a minimal cost. Note that ambient temperature does impact performance. It has no problem reaching high temperature in a standard living space, however it can struggle if you set it up in a garage or other colder location. I have found that draping a quilted furniture blanket or two over the top and sides helps mitigate this and allows it to preheat to over 130 degrees- which is plenty high for infrared heat. I always avoid covering the wiring/ fuse box on the back though, as it seems best to allow that to access the ambient air to cool. SERVICE- Alas, my unit did have an issue. It quit working unexpectedly after it was on for an extended period. I reached out to the company, and they worked with me to evaluate the problem. They determined that the electrical components needed to be replaced, and they sent me everything I needed to make the repair. Within a couple of weeks I was back in business- the business of enjoying long sweats. SIDE NOTE- if you’re used to traditional Scandinavian style saunas, with hot rocks and occasional eucalyptus/water steam, do what I did and get yourself a small humidifier/ diffuser and set it up inside. You can run the power in with the rest of the wiring bundle in the back of the tent. Adding the aromatherapy element has made this thing even better.

They replaced it when it broke

I rarely give reviews BUT... I loved this sauna and it was really helping with my lymph system, my skin and aches. When it stopped working while in the middle of a spring cleanse, I was so disappointed. I reached out to the company right away (I had submitted my warranty right after I bought it) and after some pictures and video I sent showing them the issue, they send me some troubleshooting videos back. I sent video back after troubleshooting according to their directions, and within 1 week they resolved it by sending me a brand new replacement! I was shocked. It is so rare these days to find a company that keeps its word. And the new one, in fact, works! Things I like about this sauna: *It took me only 35 minutes to set up *I can stand in it, I am 5'6' *The chair is small but works fine for me *I can keep it in the corner of my room. *I can set a timer on it for 30 minute and then it turns off *I go back and forth from the sauna to a cold shower, it's been amazing therapy for my occasional brain fog and slow lymph system. *IF I had to, I could take it apart and take with me to my next location. Would not do this every day though. *I have kids in my family who are athletes, this does wonders after a game/show/strenuous exercise to ease any sore muscles. I have them do cold showers and the sauna back and forth. Best sleep ever. Things that are not great but don't bother me: *the foot pad gets too hot for me, I don't use it *I'm not sure the temp gauge is correct all the time so I keep it to 20/30 minutes tops. *The infrared panels slump a little, but it does not interfere with it's function, so I don't care. I am happy with this purchase. Thank you SereneLife Co for great customer service.
